Maersk signs up for trial with Dexory
Global logistics conglomerate Maersk has agreed to take part in a proof-of-concept trial with Dexory, formerly BotsAndUs. As such, it has launched Dexory autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) in its warehouse in Kettering.
The robots have been deployed alongside Dexory’s integrated data platform, which it claims is ‘already gathering vital data insights’ in the Maersk facility.
Maersk Growth, the company’s venture arm, invested in Dexory’s latest round of funding and the two firms seem set to continue their collaborative partnership with this trial.
Dexory hopes that its robots and data visualisation platform will ‘help Maersk measure, track, and locate goods across every logistics step, from inbound to storage to outbound’.
Dexory’s Chief Executive Andrei Danescu said: “It’s reassuring to see such trust placed in Dexory from globally recognised logistics leaders like Maersk. We’re looking forward to bringing Maersk valuable data insights and expanding into other Maersk facilities.”
Within the Kettering facility, the robots have been used to explore the automation of inventory management and acceptance processes with the aim of providing customers with improved visibility and a greater level of access to their inventory.
If the trial proves a success and Dexory’s products continue ‘transforming Maersk’s logistics’, as it claims, it is likely that the technology will be implemented in other Maersk facilities in the UK and maybe even across the globe.
