More spec sheds for East Midlands

Property developer Goodman has formed a joint venture with Wilson Bowden to develop 130,000 sq ft of industrial space at Interlink 130, Bardon in the East Midlands.

Jason Harris, Commercial Director, Goodman UK Logistics, said: “The project is a sign of the strength of the market at the moment, and the growing demand for Grade A logistics space in the Leicester area, and indeed the wider East Midlands. We anticipate strong demand for the unit given the shortage of supply in the region.

Construction is due to start in shortly with completion scheduled for March 2016. Once complete, the unit, within an established industrial area will offer a host of environmental features including carbon neutral cladding and have a BREEAM rating of Very Good.

Interlink 130, Bardon is a prime East Midlands location situated two miles from the M1 motorway and to the North of Leicester. The site lies within Interlink Park which was originally developed by Wilson Bowden in the early 2000s. It is now well established as a key logistics park and customers include Laura Ashley, Waitrose, Volvo and Nissan.

North Rae Sanders and CBRE have been appointed as leasing agents for the unit at Interlink.

Wilson Bowden also has its 65-acre Optimus Park scheme near Leicester where it is speculatively developing two warehouse units totalling 481,000sq ft in conjunction with M&G Real Estate.

The two buildings of some 276,100 sq ft and 204,700 sq ft respectively, will be built at Junction 21a of the M1 near Leicester. Andrew Windle, Associate Director, Logistics and Industrial at M&G Real Estate, comments: “There is a limited supply of logistics accommodation in core locations such as the M1 corridor – this opportunity produces access to well specified and located product.
