New stationary ship loading station in Pischelsdorf

The crane with 30 metres height and a 22 metres conveyor arm can handle up to 300 tonnes of raw material and industrial goods per hour

As the general planner, Vienna-based Pörner group has established a EUR 3.5 million ship loading and unloading station in Pischelsdorf/Danube close to Tulln, Lower Austria. The joint project of the Agrana sugar and stark group and Donau Chemie AG is currently runnign a test operation. The new facility offers considerable economic benefits for cargo transport at this industrial site.

The core piece of the facility is a loading crane with 30 metres height and a 22 metres conveyor arm. The crane permits loading or unloading freight vessels with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes at the port yard „Donau-Umschlagslände Pischelsdorf” within a few hours. The stationary ship loading station is designed primarily for the manipulation of grain and fodder.

In addition to setting up the loading crane, also the existing facility was expanded and upgraded in order to be able to integrate the new ship loading station into the system. This includes also the new 150 meters conveyor belt, linking the new loading tower and the existing conveyors within the bioethanol plant.

On its premises in the Pischelsdorf industrial park Agrana operates an ethanol plant where biofuels are produced, and Donau Chemie operates a sulfuric acid plant, where fertilizers are produced. As early as in 2007 Pörner as general planner established the bioethanol plant in the industrial park in Pischelsdorf. At that time, rail and truck loading stations were built for the transport of grain, fodder and ethanol. Since the site is equipped with a transhipment station at the Danube border, upgrading with a high capacity ship loading station was obvious.
