Nike seeks Midlands mega green shed

Sportswear brand Nike is seeking a 1 million ft² warehouse base in the Midlands indicating that despite economic vagaries, occupier demand for warehouse space in the UK goes unabated with the Golden Triangle still the preferred location.

Already this month 3PL Warrens, part of Culina Group, has snapped up two new build-to-suit warehouses at Prologis’ RFI DIRFT totalling 514,000ft².

It is interesting to note that both these occupiers are seeking buildings of the highest sustainability. The two build-to-suit units at RFI DIRFT, DC6 (232,302ft²) and DC7 (281,890ft²) are BREEAM-rated “Excellent”, with an EPC A rating.

It is believed Nike is seeking space that will achieve BREEAM Outstanding in line with its Move to Zero ambitions toward zero carbon and zero waste.

Already in the Midlands 3PL Rhenus Warehousing Solutions Lutterworth has broken ground on its 1 million ft² state of the art logistics campus, in Nuneaton, West Midlands which it says will support its clients to achieve carbon net zero supply chains.

The two-unit campus will be built to the highest environmental and sustainability levels with the buildings themselves featuring the very latest digital technology, and upon completion the development will be certified BREEAM Outstanding.
