Panattoni signs 3rd pre-let at Aylesford logistics park

Industrial real estate developer Panattoni has signed its third pre-let at its 1.9 million ft2 logistics development in Kent following pre-lets to DHL and logistics firm Fowler Welch.

Parcel delivery company Hermes has secured a 15-year lease on a 78,794ft2 net carbon zero facility, which it will use as to handle more than 220,000 parcels each day – more than double as many as its previous site in the area, with the ability to operate 24/7 if required.

The warehouse will boast 28 dock and six level access doors and a 64m yard. Around 150 jobs will be created at the facility, which will be operational later this year.

The new facility forms part of the ongoing investment programme by Hermes UK to expand its capacity to meet the huge demand created by people shopping at home during the pandemic and the continuing growth in the sector.

Panattoni will provide EV charging, as Hermes now has 30% electric vehicle ParcelShop fleet, as well as smart lighting, rainwater harvesting, low carbon heating and solar panels. The unit will be built to a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’ and EPC A+.

Deborah Faithfull, Estates Manager at Hermes said: “The sustainability initiatives are key to Hermes’ environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy.”

In addition to being the third pre-let at the 90-acre site, this facility is also the third bespoke facility in the UK developed by Panattoni for Hermes. The others are at Panattoni Park Bolton and Nottingham.

Agents at Panattoni Park Aylesford are CBRE, Avison Young and JLL. Hermes was represented by Lambert Smith Hampton.
