Plans for 1 million sq ft Merseyside logistics park submitted
Plans for a 1 million sq ft sustainable logistics park have been submitted to Knowsley Council by Tritax Symmetry.
According to the developer the scheme, if approved, could be capable of creating 1,035 direct temporary jobs during construction and approximately 1,000 additional jobs within the Liverpool City Region. The proposed scheme is anticipated to generate approximately ÂŁ51m of net additional GVA per annum.
Speaking about the planning application Matt Claxton, planning director at Tritax Symmetry, said: “The pandemic has had a significant impact on the national economy and bringing forward this new site will create much-needed employment opportunities and attract inward investment to this area of the North West, at a time when the economy needs it most.”
Dominic Page, senior associate at Gerald Eve, which is advising Tritax Symmetry on the planning application, commented: “Tritax Symmetry has a long-term commitment to the communities in which it develops, and the planning application has been structured in such a way as to enable the development’s benefits to be realised at the earliest opportunity.
The Land Trust entered into an agreement to transfer an area of its land to Tritax Symmetry, which will form part of the employment site adjoining the associated 65-acre Country Park. Euan Hall, Chief Executive at the Land Trust said: “Unlocking this disused land has provided us with a once in a lifetime opportunity to bring forward a country park of this scale and we are extremely pleased with the public response so far. With planning now submitted for the employment site, we are working on the application for the country park, which will be submitted in the coming days.”
The project team includes UMC Architects, Gerald Eve (planning), Tier Consulting, The Environmental Partnership (TEP) and Tyler Grange.
