REWE to depoly Körber WMS in over 40 European facilities

REWE International AG, the Austrian arm of Cologne-based retail conglomerate REWE Group, has selected Körber Supply Chain’s warehouse management system (WMS) to ‘drive supply chain optimisation across 40+ locations across Europe’.

Körber’s K.Motion WMS will be rolled out in REWE warehouses in two stages. The rollout will begin in a pilot phase until mid-2025, being introduced at five locations and beginning to connect with the retailer’s existing enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

After the pilot, 35 additional locations will be ‘converted with support from Körber through REWE International’. According to Körber, the system’s go-live is anticipated by 2028.

Michael Brandl, Executive Vice President of Operations Software for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) at Körber Supply Chain, explained the need for such technology, saying: “Today’s supply chains face a myriad of complexities. These include sudden delivery bottlenecks, rising customer expectations, ever-larger product ranges, as well as hybrid fulfilment concepts and labour shortages.

“This leads to significantly higher demands on efficiency and transparency in logistics operations, for which digitised strategies are becoming indispensable in order to also tap new potentials of data use and analysis.”

REWE believes that this rollout of Körber’s WMS will help the company become more flexible and adaptable. Manfred Mülleder, Project Lead for WMS at REWE International AG, feels that this software gives him confidence that REWE are “optimally prepared for both upcoming automation projects and expected company growth”.

Körber Supply Chain Automation (Stand i1030) will be at IntraLogisteX on 28-29 March 2023 at the NEC Birmingham. For more information, visit www.intralogistex.co.uk.
