Shopify set to buy Deliverr for US$2.1 billion

Shopify will soon mark its largest acquisition yet with the purchase of shipping and logistics startup Deliverr for US$2.1 billion, (£1.7 billion).

With the addition of Deliverr’s software, data, and scalability, the Shopify Fulfilment Network aims to become the most robust end-to-end logistics platform.

In collaboration, SFN and Deliverr will an improved platform to streamline the logistics process, through a simplified multichannel inventory management, two day and next day delivery, as well as other independent logistics services.

Shopify plans to integrate its existing technology and Deliverr’s with 6 River Systems’ warehouse automation technology.

“Together with Deliverr, Shopify Fulfillment Network will give millions of growing businesses access to a simple, powerful logistics platform”, said Tobi Lütke, founder and CEO of Shopify.

“Our technology and expertise in inventory management, inventory placement, and demand chain combines perfectly with Shopify’s roadmap, enabling us to now build an end-to-end logistics platform together”, added Harish Abbott, co-founder and CEO of Deliverr.
