Spedition Schnabl: Major investment in the Waldviertel region
The Schnabl forwarding company is launching the largest investment in the company’s history. By the end of this year, a 7.500 m² property with eight loading bays, called “Halle West”, was built on the company premises in Gmünd in the northern Waldviertel region in Lower Austria. The investment totals around EUR 5 million.
“This is a measure to secure the site. The companies of the shipping industry now require integrated solutions ranging from transport and JIT concepts to warehousing, commissioning, and electronic networking for procurement and distribution logistics,” explained Hannelore Schnabl-Wabra, Helmut Schnabl and Patrick Koppensteiner, the managing directors of the forwarding company.
Spedition Schnabl was founded in 1938 with a horse cart for the transport of milk to the dairy factory in Gmünd, and entered the long-distance transport sector in 1949. Since then, the company has grown in small steps to currently 100 employees and 22,000 m² of warehouse space, including external facilities.
The fleet, currently consisting of more than 70 units, includes tarpaulin trucks, silo trucks and wide-body tippers for grain and fertiliser transports, which are carried out as national transport by about two-thirds, and one-third on cross-border routes.
