Touchstar implements rugged mobile technology for homeware retailer

Preston-based homeware retailer Silver Mushroom has selected TouchStar to upgrade its hardware for warehouse picking operations.

Silver Mushroom was established in 2011 and after seeing ‘tremendous growth in demand’, opened a third-party fulfilment centre with CK Fulfilment.

Now, to support the company’s picking processes, it had decided to use TouchStar to upgrade to rugged mobile computers from Zebra Technologies.

Silver Mushroom’s Operations Director Tony Barnes said: “We selected TouchStar to support us with the upgrade due to their experience and solid reputation within the industry.

“We were looking for a more robust and user-friendly device to replace our existing devices which were prone to damage.

“Not only were they able to help us select the right hardware, but the support they provided in getting us up and running has been exceptional.”

TouchStar recommended the use of Zebra’s TC21 handheld touch computer. Believing the rugged mobile computers to be ‘fit for purpose’, TouchStar describes the TC21 as ‘lightweight, easy to carry, and easy to operate’.

Peter Marsh, Sales Director for TouchStar, explained: “We feel that that in the TC21, we will be delivering a fit for purpose device that will deliver real operational benefits to the business.”

ouchStar (Stand i406) and Zebra Technologies (i820) will be at IntraLogisteX on 28-29 March 2023 at the NEC Birmingham. For more information, visit www.intralogistex.co.uk.
