Warehouse deal to kick start major regeneration scheme

The development of an 800,000 sq ft national distribution and training centre at Hargreaves Land and Waystone’s Unity scheme in South Yorkshire could help kick start the 618-acre mixed-use regeneration scheme next year.

The joint venture has exchanged conditional contracts for the £25 million sale of a 79-acre plot to a national retailer for the development the NDC.

Contracts are expected in the middle of 2021 and are subject to planning permission and the construction of a new access road, which will provide direct access to Junction 5 of the M18 motorway.

A 618-acre regeneration project in Doncaster, South Yorkshire will provide up to 2 million sq ft of logistics and employment space.

The mixed-use regeneration scheme at the former Hatfield Colliery will also comprise 3,100 new homes, a new marina, school, transport hub and about 200 acres of open spaces.

Work has already started on the 2.9km link road and is expected to complete before the end of 2020, connecting the M18 to Waggons Way next to the former Hatfield Colliery.

Unity is being supported by Doncaster Council and Sheffield City Region which are part funding the link road. Homes England is also supporting the extensive proposed housing programme
