CML takes extra space at Magna Park Lutterworth to support joint venture

Logistics company CML has taken Unit 6130 a distribution warehouse at Magna Park in Lutterworth, East Midlands.

The 110,215 sq ft unit will be the firm’s third warehouse at Magna Park, increasing its total retail distribution space at the park by almost 30 percent.

The new facility will house a purpose built picking structure and space for over 14,000 pallets on a secure 6.5 acre site. The newly refurbished building has 12m eaves, eight dock and two access doors, as well as a secure car park with space for 70 cars and 19 HGVs.

Letting agents on the scheme were Strutt & Parker and Burbage Realty.

It is thought the new building will be used to support CML and Canute Logistics’ recently announced joint venture enterprise TouchPoint.

The new service which was launched at Multimodal 2017 is set to offer retail clients importing, exporting, and eCommerce warehousing solutions combined with distribution.

David Emslie, group sales director at the Canute Group, said: “This new offering will strip out the need for additional suppliers for technology, eCommerce and warehousing, providing clients with a single point of contact to manage a seamless delivery which is flexible, scalable and adaptable.”

The partnership came about when Canute Logistics was seeking eCommerce warehousing for client, Office Depot, and Magna Park Lutterworth-based CML ‘was able to provide this at an exceptional level’.

Emslie added: “For over a decade, Canute Logistics have pioneered a specialist service in retail logistics and have supported some of the UK’s best known high street brands.

“We want to ensure that we can offer a comprehensive, straightforward solution for customers at all touch points in the supply chain, so partnering with CML and combining our collective expertise in the retail supply chain is a perfect solution.”

Mark Webb, managing director at CML, said: “With our 25 years’ retail experience including importing, exporting, pre-retailing services, specialist fulfilment and eCommerce capability, the TouchPoint proposition is an exciting one.”

Whilst Canute Logistics and CML are continuing their respective operations, TouchPoint will be able to support both company’s retail clients, as well as new clients, at every point in the supply chain.

TouchPoint will operate from CML’s Lutterworth site on Magna Park, supported by Canute Logistics’ 14 depots throughout the UK.

According to its website TouchPoint’s distribution offerings include pre-retail services such as relabelling, sewing – embroidery, remedial and mending work, pressing/ironing and specialist packing (eCommerce). In addition there is storage of goods as well distribution that includes nighttime deliveries, stock room replenishment, returns management, final mile delivery and express next day delivery.
