DB Schenker bundles its contract logistics in Nuremberg

DB Schenker Logistics awards order to develop a state-of-the-art Shared Logistics Center (SLC) for contract logistics to Goodman

DB Schenker Logistics adds another project to its activities in Nuremberg. After Schenker Deutschland AG has moved into its new terminal in the port of Nuremberg by the end of 2013, a 15,700 m² new building designed for contract logistics is to follow this year. Having secured a 72.000 m² logistics premises at this site, Goodman, a developper and investor will support Schenker.

In this modern logistics centre DB Schenker will offer its customers from trade and industry contract logistics services, including global spare parts logistics, procurement and production logistics or global distribution in an economically and ecologically optimised infrastructure. A further expansion to 13,000 m² is optionally provided.

The particular advantage for the customers will be the integration of all contract logistics services with a global range of transport solutions by land, water, rail and air in the nearby Nuremberg office. As real estate partner Goodman develops the SLC, including office space, with initially 60 jobs.

The construction phase will start in July, completion and start of operation are planned for the end of 2015. „Nuremberg is so far a success story for the highest transport expertise and continuous growth in the region,“ said Dr. Thomas Böger, CEO Contract Logistics/SCM, on the occasion of the announcement of the investment. „We will now add another success story with this continuous expansion of contract logistics.“

„The recent development in Nuremberg marks already our ninth cooperation with DB Schenker, at seven different locations in Germany. The properties cover a total area of around 280,000 m²,“ says Jordan Corynen, Goodman Regional Director for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. „Our partnership shows that customer requirements are our top priority when it comes to the provision of logistics real estate.“
