STLB now offers full service for containers at its Graz Süd terminal

Graz Süd terminal: Steiermärkische Landesbahnen becomes active in the segments of empty container depot and container repair

Steiermärkische Landesbahnen (STLB), the Styrian railway company, has been operating the Graz Süd terminal for more than 12 years. The focus has so far been on the throughput of containers, swap bodies and semitrailers between road and rail.

With the start of the year 2015 they took over responsibility for the empty container depot and the container repair station at the Graz Süd terminal, to be able to offer a full service. For the customers of Steiermärkische Landesbahn this novelty shall become perceptible in the form of faster handling of processes.

Among other things, experts will check all empty containers for damages before entering the terminal area. The damages will be recorded using mobile devices, with modern IT solutions calculating the estimated repair costs and transmitting them just-in-time to the customers.

The installation of EDP ports allows for automated communication with the customers via the additional system. There are relevant cooperation agreements with all major shipping companies. This means an advantage for industrial enterprises and forwarders, as they can borrow and return containers for their transportations at the Graz Süd terminal.

The container service comprises also the following: container depot for all major shipping companies, container cleaning, container equipping (e.g. with inlets), sale/rent of containers, interim storage of dangerous goods containers as well as reporting on incoming and outgoing containers.
