Active On-Demand provides Ford with time critical solution
Mission critical air and ground transport solutions supplier Active On-Demand, Roadrunner Transport Systems company, helped Ford to resume vehicle production after a fire disrupted its operations.
Ford needed to have an 87,000-pound die tool, used to cut or shape material using a press, transported from Ohio, USA to Nottingham, United Kingdom. Normally it would take around ten days to arrange transport and documentation for a die.
Active On-Demand transported the necessary tools needed to resume production sooner than expected via air and ground transport. It also helped prepare the accompanying import and export documentation required to transport the critical tools.
“Just a few hours of manufacturing downtime can cause major downstream issues and financial losses,” said Tom Stenglein, Active On-Demand president. “Our ground and air transport experts commonly receive unique logistical challenges.”
The Active On-Demand team, with partner Antonov Airlines, were able to deliver ahead of the traditional timeframe with a 30-hour flight, said Antonov managing director Graham Witton.
