AeroLogic has been lifting into the air for five years

Joint enterprise of DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo puts a strong emphasis on efficient and safe air freight transport

Exactly five years ago AeroLogic, based in Schkeuditz at the Leipzig-Halle airport (LEJ) started flight operations and has been acting worldwide on behalf of DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo. The freight airline has strongly evolved since its first flight on 29 June 2009 from LEJ via Bahrain to Singapore.

The fleet of brand new Boeing 777F grew to eight units within less than two years. “Today we are operating one of the world’s largest Boeing 777 freighter fleets“, says Ulf Weber, managing director.

In the past five years AeroLogic has carried out a total of 25,300 flights on behalf of its parent companies DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo. The current schedule of the airline covers 21 destinations in 15 countries. In total AeroLogic has been serving 51 different destinations on behalf of its customers and shareholders.

“AeroLogic is in a good position in an international comparison when it comes to best punctuality and highest efficiency”, explains Marcus Niedermeyer, Director Administration and authorised signatory of the freight airline. “We want to further pursue this successful course with our 280 employees also in the future,“ he adds.

The idea of AeroLogic can be outlined as follows: The express business of DHL Express is mainly carried out on working days, whereas Lufthansa Cargo has its main business on weekends. The combination of both systems results thus in synergies, which is why the two companies had decided to establish a joint airline, to ideally use the capacity of the aircraft.
