ALICE looks for a new strategy in defence logistics

Conference for logistics in Amsterdam

Military operations are pre-eminently complicated logistic operations. For the defence sector these logistic issues are more current than ever. Complex international alliances and an increasingly critical society require a different approach of the logistic processes than the defence sector was used to. New ways of cooperation between government, industry and research are an important aspect in this matter. Shortly representatives of these sectors will meet to extensively discuss these issues and its challenges and opportunities. The platform where this will all happen is the international conference ALICE 2009, ‘the logistic burden of complex defence operations’. This conference will take place in Amsterdam RAI, the Netherlands, on 1 and 2 October 2009. It is being organised by Europoint Conferences & Exhibitions based in the Dutch city of Zeist. This conference aims to serve as a strategic platform where best practices will be shared, strategies will be developed or adjusted and innovative achievements will be shared. This is expected to result in a cost reductive, safe and controllable strategy for managing complex defence logistic operations.

The two-day conference is being preceded, on 30 September 2009, by a workshop on Performance Based Logistics for those interested.
