Amazon secures new second style parcel delivery depot

Amazon has secured its second new style delivery depot although has yet to confirm the deal.

Logistics Manager understands Amazon to be the global retailer behind a 15-year lease on a build-to-suit parcel distribution facility with LondonMetric Property at Mucklow Park Tyseley in Birmingham, West Midlands.

Plans for the facility are reminiscent of Amazon’s new style delivery depot in Peterborough, which was reported in Logistics Manager last week. Both facilities boast decked van storage areas for a fleet of electric vans as well as multiple launch bays, van waiting bays and cage bays on schemes with very low site coverage.

Logistics Manager has been informed that Amazon has a number of delivery depot projects similar to the one in Peterborough due to be delivered in the next 12 months.

The 120,000 sq ft last mile logistics warehouse has been let at an annual rent of £1.6 million, subject to upward only inflation linked rent reviews, which equates to around £14 per sq ft. This reflects a very low site cover of 24%, which accommodates the occupier’s need for vehicle parking and movement.

Planning consent has been received for the Tyseley depot and construction is expected to commence imminently with completion anticipated in Summer 2021. The warehouse will target a BREEAM Excellent rating and is designed to allow the occupier to adopt a full electric vehicle delivery fleet.
