Ambitious expansion program with Dachser group

Air & Sea Logistics business field was the growth driver of the internationally operating transport and logistics group Dachser in the 2010 fiscal year

 

Dachser group with its headquarters in Kempten in Germany is steering on a course of expansion. "We will move a significant step closer towards fulfilling our mission to create the world’s most intelligent combination and integration of logistical network services and in so doing will continue to optimize the logistics balance sheet of our customers", emphasizes the spokesman of the management board, Bernhard Simon, at the annual press conference in Munich.

This business year, if the economy remains stable, Dachser aim is to achieve healthy and double-digit growth. The company is also planning to invest around EUR 260 million in extending its logistics network in all three business fields and in stepping up its training programme. Two new Eurohubs, in Bratislava and Clermont-Ferrand, will be linked to the existing hub in Überherrn in the Saarland, reducing the number of cross docking operations and cutting shipment times within Europe.

In the 2010 fiscal year the internationally operating logistics group Dachser increased its revenue by EUR 600 million. "Total revenue of EUR 3.8 billion and a workforce of 19,250 staff represent a milestone in the history of our company, which now stretches back more than 80 years, emphasizes the head of the management board, Bernhard Simon. The growth driver was the Air & Sea Logistics business field. The global network for intercontinental logistics, focusing on the US, South American, European and Asian markets, generated revenue of EUR 940 million, thus representing growth of 68 per cent on the year 2009. Dachser European Logistics recorded revenue of EUR 2.4 billion. The logistics providers core business, transporting groupage in its full-coverage European network, is complemented by industry solutions for the chemical industry and the DIY and garden centre sectors. Last year Dachser transported 46.2 million consignments weighing a total of 35.5 million tons. The company’s equity ratio is at 40 per cent. The company has earmarked around EUR 1.3 billion for investment over the next five years.
