AMI re-brands HK Operation and opens in China
Airfreight Wholesaler UAC Asia HK has been re-branded AMI Asia HK Ltd. It is the final element of the UAC business – acquired by AMI in 2007 – to be brought under the AMI brand. At the same time, AMI has registered and launched AMI China Limited, its first operation in mainland China, based in Shanghai. AMI Asia HK specialises in trade-only air exports from Hong Kong to South Pacific destinations, both for Hong Kong-originating traffic and for transhipments routing via Hong Kong from other markets. AMI China will serve the large agent community around Shanghai, focusing on trade-only export services to AMI’s network in the USA, Europe, Australasia and South Africa. AMI China will also handle imports into the region from AMI’s other network locations. Although airfreight wholesaling in the Hong Kong and Chinese markets is not new, AMI is the first company to offer such services on a strictly trade-only basis. AMI Asia HK has built a solid business base and already moves some 120,000 kilos per month, while the much newer AMI China operation is already poised to overtake its Hong Kong sister company’s peformance.
