Aramex awarded contract with Dutch Military for European ground transportation services

Aramex, the global logistics and transportation solutions provider, announced today that it will provide ground transportation services across Europe as part of a two year contract with the Dutch Ministry of Defense.  Under the agreement, Aramex will handle the regular movement of shipments both inbound and outbound from the Netherlands to locations across the EU, Norway, Switzerland and Turkey.

“The contract with the Dutch Military is in line with our strategic focus on offering integrated solutions to the European market and establishing long-term relationships with key partners throughout the region,” said General Manager of Aramex Netherlands, Marco Klaassen. “This partnership with a renowned governmental body, such as the Dutch Military, further strengthens our capabilities and experience in addressing the needs of this sector.”

The management of the whole program will be coordinated at Aramex’s Eindhoven station under the leadership of Branch Manager, Adri voor den Dag, while Sibrand van der Veen, who played a key role in inking the contract will be managing the account commercially.  Aramex Netherlands will also deploy additional specialist staff to expand its capacity and ensure that it addresses various needs of the Dutch Military, which can involve anything from the movement of helicopter blades, aircraft engines and spares to supplies for international training exercises.

The initial agreement will continue for two years – effective at July 2010 – and may be extended to 2014.
