B2B parcel logistics of Post grows to a market share of 31 per cent

Stronger customer-orientation bears fruit in the parcel logistics division of Austrian Post

The new “Branchenradar“, a market and competition analysis of Kreutzer Fischer & Partner Consulting GmbH, confirms an increased market share of the Österreichische Post AG in the parcel business. The company managed to outgrow the market once again. The total parcel volume transported throughout Austria increased by 3.7 percent in 2015 to 156.8 million. Post carried 80 million of them.

“Despite the difficult market situation and a new competitor, we were able to further increase our market share. This shows intensifying the service offensive and customer orientation was the right way“, remarks DI Peter Umundum, CEO Parcel & Logistics, Austrian Post.

Especially the Post’s continuous investment into new delivery solutions and services, such as delivery on Saturdays, the expansion of 24-hour services and mail receiving boxes or the Post app with new opportunities for interaction are heavily used and rewarded by the customers. Also new forms of delivery, such as the delivery of food or innovative new solutions such as delivery to the trunk of vehicles or receiving boxes at the front door, which are currently being tested and evaluated, contribute to the satisfaction of Post customers.

In 2015 they recorded again slight growth impulses in parcel volumes between business customers (B2B). This segment grew by 1.2 percent over the previous year and the Post succeeded to outgrow the market (plus 11.9%). Its current market share is 31 percent, compared to 28 percent in the year 2014.

In the parcel and private customers segment (B2C and C2C) Post was able to keep its market share constant at 76 percent despite the entry of another competitor, and remains the market leader in this segment, followed by DPD with 12.5 percent.
