CEVA reunites London Marathon runners with their bags

CEVA Logistics played a part in the smooth running of the 31st London Marathon, taking care of and reuniting 35,000 runners with their personal effects.

The last thing runners want to do when they’ve sprinted, trotted or stumbled across the finish line of a marathon is spend hours trying to locate their kit bags.

CEVA and a group of volunteers took responsibility for collecting the London Marathon runners‘ bags from the three start points, transporting them to the finish line and making sure their owners could find them easily.

According to CEVA’s senior general manager Alan Bell, this is the eighteenth year that the company has managed the baggage operation, and everything ran according to plan.

The 41 vehicles, each carrying more than 1,000 bags, travelled in convoy across central London to the finish line at the Mall, accompanied by a police escort.

Each runner is given a bag with the same number they ran with. At The Mall, the bags are sorted into numerical order and the runners simply find the truck displaying their number.
