Childs Farm picks Walker for distribution

Childs Farm, the British children’s toiletries brand, has appointed Berkshire-based Walker Logistics to handle its distribution on a three year contract.

Walker will pick, pack and dispatch up to 1,000 online orders direct to consumers per day from its 250,000 square foot multi-user store on the outskirts of Reading. Palletised loads of replenishment stock bound for retailers such as Boots, Tesco and Waitrose will also leave the warehouse on a daily basis.

Before the appointment of Walker, Childs Farm’s manufacturing partner had also undertaken the fulfilment role. However, such has been the increase in orders from both retail stockists and consumers who buy online from the Childs Farm web site, that a dedicated logistics services partner was sought.
