Chinese logistics centre to be built at the JadeWeserPort Freight Village

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of a logistics centre “China Logistics-Wilhelmshaven Hub” was signed today by Li Xiangyang, General Manager of China Logistics Co., Ltd. (CL), and Andreas Bullwinkel, Managing Director of Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven JadeWeserPort-Marketing GmbH & Co. KG, in the presence of Mr Tong Laiming, Vice President of the Chengtong Group. The logistics centre is to occupy a 20 hectare site in the north of the Freight Village to handle Chinese goods.

China Logistics based in Beijing, is one of the largest Chinese logistics businesses, and operates 58 logistics centres with around 8 million m² of space, and is a subsidiary of the China Chengtong Group (CCT). The company has divisions involved in freight transport by road, rail and water, as well as providing integrated logistics services including international freight transport, storage and distribution.

Andreas Bullwinkel comments on the signing: “The negotiations over several years with our Chinese partners paved the way to today’s signing of the MoU, which marks the next important step in the realisation of the project. The logistics centre has the potential of playing a part in the “Belt and Road Initiative” in the medium term.”

Dr. Berend Lindner, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour, Transport and Digitisation in Niedersachsen, comments on behalf of the State of Niedersachsen: “We are delighted about today’s signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese logistics company China Logistics. This lays the foundations for the establishment of a logistics centre for handling Chinese goods in the Freight Village at JadeWeserPort Wilhelmshaven.“
