CILT names Spittle UK president

Jim Spittle has been appointed UK president-elect at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, assuming the one-year role from current president Jim Steer.

Known as one of the UK’s leading supply chain professionals, Spittle has previously worked as group supply chain director at DSG International, Whitbread, and Kingfisher, as well as director of Tesco.

He is chairman of GS1, which develops and implements international data standards, and an advisory board member at both Poel and Cranfield University’s Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

„Jim’s appointment comes at a critical time as the UK economy continues to move out of recession; and I know he will continue to focus on our work emphasising the essential contribution that logistics and transport is making to the economic recovery of our country,“ said Steer.

Spittle will take over from Steer at an inauguration lunch on 16 May this year.
