Clipper takes on Goliath

Clipper Logistics looks set to take Crosspoint 666 also known as Goliath near Coventry to serve its contract with the NHS for the storage and delivery of PPE.

This will be the second big shed over 500,000 sq ft in the Midlands that the 3PL has taken  to service the NHS contract having secured Prologis’s DC535 warehouse comprising 514,000 sq ft of warehouse space, 21,000 sq ft of office space on the developer’s flagship scheme  at DIRFT in July 2020.

FI Real Estate Management’s Goliath warehouse underwent a  £7m refurbishment in 2019 that included the replacement of all the roof lights, installation of new LED light fittings, testing and commissioning of the loading doors, heating and sprinkler systems, new office space, new entrance pod, polished floor slab and repaint of column supports.

It includes a 16.2m high bay warehouse, loading on three elevations, 210 car parking spaces, 119 dock loading doors, 102 trailer spaces, all of which is fully secured within the site.

Clipper is believed to have secured a five year lease on the facility which was formerly let to ToysRUs

In the last year Clipper has secured several  units in and around the Midlands for the NHS contract these include DIRFT240 totalling 240,000 sq ft, the 300,000 sq ft former Mothercare NDC also at  DRIFT, as well as a Hurricane 258 at GLP’s Magna Park Lutterworth totalling 258,000 sq ft.

In its most recent financial report Clipper said it had increased its distribution centre portfolio to accommodate increased activity over the first half of its financial year and now had 52 sites throughout the UK and mainland Europe with over 14.5 million square feet of warehouse space under its management.

Clipper said the period also saw it process over 7.4 billion items of PPE and issue 3.9 billion items on an NHS contract.
