CMA CGM takes delivery of another 11,400 TEU ship

CMA CGM has taken delivery of the CMA CGM Leo – the fifth in a series of twelve 11,400 TEU vessels ordered from Hyundai Heavy Industries for delivery between 2010 and 2011.

Registered in Valetta, the CMA CGM Leo will be one of the largest containerships sailing under the Maltese flag.

One other vessel scheduled for delivery soon will also be registered in Malta, where the CMA CGM Group has been present for many years and operates the Malta Freeport Terminal.

The CMA CGM Leo is one of the first of the Group’s vessels to receive the new Bureau Veritas classification notations Clean Ship C and FORS, which confirm the environmental performance of the ship.

The CMA CGM LEO will join the CMA CGM Christophe Colomb and CMA CGM Amerigo Vespucci on the French Asia Line (FAL5) service operating between Asia and Europe.

CMA CGM will also take delivery of the CMA CGM Pegasus at the beginning of August. This sister ship of the CMA CGM Leo will also be deployed on the FAL 5 service.

CMA CGM continues to invest in an efficient and eco-friendly fleet.  Earlier this month, the shipping line took delivery of the 6,500 TEU CMA CGM Lamartine and the 11,400 TEU CMA CGM Callisto.
