Conveyor belt service for sea containers with or without guarantee

The world’s leading container carrier is further expanding its market share by strengthening its Daily Maersk offer.

Copenhagen based Maersk Line will add three European ports to its “Daily Maersk” conveyor belt service between Asia and Europe effective mid February. The service offers a 26-day transit from Shanghai to Zeebrugge and Le Havre and 28 days to Hamburg. Shippers will benefit from shorter transit times and increased reliability, but they won’t receive cash compensation for late guaranteed deliveries available on the Daily Maersk service linking four Asian ports with Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, and Felixstowe. A fleet of 70 vessels is deployed on the seven-days-a-week Daily Maersk service between Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian in China and Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia, and northern Europe.

The service expansion aims to counter the recently announced alliance between rivals CMA CGM and Mediterranean Shipping Co., after Maersk hat terminated its vessel sharing agreement with CMA CGM. The last sailing in the vessel sharing agreement with CMA will be completed on Feb. 16 in Ningbo (China).

Maersk also announced that it wants to launch a new Asia-Mediterranean Sea product when the vessel sharing agreement is actually terminated.

The French carrier, CMA-CGM, has entered a wide-ranging partnership with MSC on the Asia-Europe route and other key trade lanes. The new alliance want to offer services that can rival those of Maersk.
