Dachser builds second facility in Frankfurt; opens Eurohub in Bratislava

Dachser has begun construction on its new Frankfurt Ost logistics centre in Erlensee near Hanau, and has opened a new logistics hub in Bratislava for Central and Eastern Europe.

Dachser is investing €16 million until March 2012 in its new Frankfurt Ost logistics centre in Erlensee near Hanau, creating capacities for further sustained growth in the Rhine-Main region. The 47,000 m² site in Erlensee will accommodate a 6,660 m² cross dock that will enable simultaneous loading and unloading of 68 trucks, as well as a two-storey office building with around 2,000 m² of usable floor space. Additional space is available for expansion of both buildings if necessary, and Dachser has also secured an option on an adjacent site of more than two hectares.
According to Friedrich Wilhelm Wasser, manager of the Dachser CargoCity Süd location in Frankfurt, tonnage transported has almost doubled during the last five years, with the number of shipments reaching one million for the first time in 2010.
Michael Schilling, managing director of European Network Management & Logistics Systems at Dachser, added: "The Frankfurt Ost logistics centre will link the Rhine-Main region directly or via hubs with 38 national and 190 European destinations."

In other news, Dachser has opened its new Eurohub in Bratislava, which combines a local branch office and a logistics hub for central and eastern Europe.

Located on a 64,000 m² site, the new logistics centre accommodates a 3,565 m² cross-dock for industrial goods, which enables the simultaneous loading and unloading of 31 trucks. An office building with 1,800 m² of usable floor space has also been built. In a second building phase, a warehouse with 13,500 pallet spaces will be added. In a first step, the second Eurohub within the Dachser overland transport network links fourteen countries via nineteen daily scheduled services, and is also directly connected to the Eurohub in Überherrn, Germany.

In late-summer 2011, Dachser’s third European hub in Clermont-Ferrand, France, will also join the network.
