DB Cargo creates clear conditions in Scandinavia

DB Cargo has repurchased 49 percent of the shares in DB Cargo Scandinavia A/S. The company is taking over from the Swedish freight company Green Cargo, which had taken part in a joint venture with DB Cargo Scandinavia some 10 years ago. The Bundeskartellamt has already approved the purchase. Silence has been agreed on the purchase price.

As a result, DB Cargo is once again the sole shareholder in the Copenhagen-based Danish rail freight company. With the investment, DB Cargo wants to increase its market share in Scandinavia and particularly convince the customers in the Swedish market with its offer.

In addition to its activities in Denmark, the Swedish market and its rail link to Germany will be one of the core regions of DB Cargo’s Scandinavian subsidiary in the future. Due to the 100% share of business, it is now possible to offer continuous trains from one source and in a high quality from Germany via Denmark to Sweden and back, the company writes in a press release.

The joint venture is over, but DB Cargo will continue to work with Green Cargo to carry out transports for a large number of customers.
