DB Schenker and ÖSV start the new Alpine Ski World Cup season

Last year, DB Schenker and the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) celebrated the 10-year anniversary of their successful partnership and renewed their cooperation to the year 2020. For 11 years, the ÖSV stars have been counting on the expertise and know-how of the integrated transport and logistics service provider.

Back in the summer of 2017, DB Schenker supplied the ÖSV teams with equipment for their training camps in New Zealand and Chile. And also the experts of the logistics service provider are ready for the upcoming Alpine Ski World Cup races. This year, they will transport a total of 50 tonnes of equipment, among others, to the races in Nakiska (Canada), Copper Mountain and Vail/Beaver Creek (USA). More than 2,000 individual packages such as ski bags, goal posts, workbenches and ergometers as well as over 1,500 pairs of skis will be loaded for the ÖSV stars in the 2017/2018 season.

The ÖSV stars are following a tight schedule during the World Cup season – just like DB Schenker. The predefined schedules of the races represent a special challenge for logistics in terms of timely delivery and therefore require accurate and precise planning. Above all, flexibility is required, because due to external conditions it can happen that one race or another is postponed or even canceled.

After the overseas trips the entire equipment of the ski stars will be temporarily stored at the logistics location Kufstein, in order to allow the ÖSV service team, the sport coaches and the athletes to access their equipment at any time. In addition, the DB Schenker office in Kufstein was entrusted with planning, central delivery as well as the entire management of this partnership with the ÖSV from the beginning.

Thanks to DB Schenker’s global network, all services can be provided from one source and the ÖSV equipment can be transported quickly and, above all, safely to all races and training camps.
