DHL adds ‘sustainable’ marine fuel for full-container load shipments

DHL Global Forwarding is seeking to decarbonise part of its supply chain by investing in more sustainable marine fuels for its long haul cargo ships.

After previously launching a similar service for Less-than-Container Load, (LDL), shipments, the company is now extending the option to Full-Container Load, (FCL) shipments.

DHL’s customers can choose the use of more sustainable fuels. Offering the option of using ‘sustainable’ marine fuels, (SMF), is another step towards cleaner and greener ocean freight, in line with Deutsche Post DHL Group’s Mission 2050 of zero emissions logistics.

With the launch of the SMF service, which is now available for all ocean freight shipments, DHL Global Forwarding is not only making it easier to access more sustainable deliveries for its customers, but also raises awareness for sustainable alternatives.

As the first customer globally, international fashion company Lindex is switching to sustainable marine fuel for its FCL ocean freight. As a result, Lindex is decarbonising its entire ocean freight shipments by partnering with DHL Global Forwarding.
