Eddie Stobart brings in Tesco man as new CEO

Alex Laffey, former distribution director at Tesco, is to become chief executive officer of Eddie Stobart Logistics.

From 5th May he will take over from William Stobart, who is taking up the new role of executive chairman.

A spokesman said the change was designed to strengthen Stobart’s senior management “ensuring the optimal level of resource and experience at the top of the business to support continued growth”.

Laffey has more than 25 years logistics experience with Tesco, where he has worked in 21 markets across Asia and Europe. He will know the Stobart business well, as Stobart is a major contractor for Tesco.

StobartTruckIn April last year, Stobart Group sold a 51 per cent stake in Eddie Stobart Logistics to DBay Advisors in a deal that valued the business as £280.8m.
