Evolution Time Critical celebrates ten years of providing first-class emergency

Emergency logistics specialist Evolution Time Critical is celebrating ten years of providing market-leading emergency logistics services to the world’s major carmakers and their suppliers. By consistently helping manufacturers to counter supply chain disruption and keep production lines running, it has grown from a small start-up to a successful international business with customers in more than 40 countries worldwide.

Now a trusted and recognised partner, Evolution’s services are increasingly becoming an integral part of manufacturers’ lean supply chain strategies. The company won the Frost and Sullivan European Logistics Best Practice award in 2010, and has just achieved its best year of trading, with revenues of more than 30 percent compared to any other year to date.

“From the beginning, we sought to create a highly service-oriented business that would provide the automotive manufacturing industry with a robust and reliable emergency logistics service,” explains Brad Brennan, managing director. “We have responded quickly to the diverse challenges facing the industry and its global supply chains, allowing manufacturers to avoid the heavy costs associated with production delays.”

The company has been particularly active over the past two years in helping its customers to overcome problems heightened by the recession, such as inventory reduction, transport capacity reduction, supplier relocation and longer supply chains, as well as instigating creative solutions to maintain production during the severe winter of 2009-10 and the volcanic ash cloud. It has given manufacturers and their suppliers the confidence to keep inventory levels low, and provides a cost-effective alternative to stocking additional inventory.

“We have developed with the automotive industry over the past decade and moulded our services to meet its needs,” comments Brennan. “We have continually sought to improve our service levels and capabilities in the regions in which are customers are active by expanding our international network of logistics and transport experts, and now have hundreds of operational partners throughout the world.”

Founded by its four directors, each with more than 30 years’ logistics industry experience, Evolution now has a UK headquarters at East Midlands Airport and two European offices in Germany and Sweden. It operates a 24/7 service from its global control centre, and offers a single point of contact for all critical transport modes. It places a strong emphasis on monitoring and communication, with staff in real-time contact with drivers, couriers and aircrew in preference to relying on barcode scanning. The team provides updates to its customers throughout the day and night via SMS, email and telephone.

In addition to providing emergency logistics support to the global automotive industry, Evolution has also facilitated time critical deliveries for many non-automotive businesses. It has helped to prevent disruption to the middle-eastern trading operations of a major bank by delivering a critical electronic component, and prevented a ship from sinking by delivering specialist equipment to a marine salvage site in Taiwan. It even rushed the Murata robot bike to the BBC’s London television studios just in time for it to be featured on popular children’s programme Blue Peter.

“We look forward to supporting all our customersover the next decade and beyond,” concludes Brennan. “I’d also like to thank our dedicated staff, whose energy and enthusiasm continue to propel us forward at a remarkable rate.”
