FedEx launches 777F service to South Korea

FedEx Express has launched a new dedicated 777F route connecting the FedEx World Hub in Memphis, Tennessee to South Korea with four non-stop flights a week.

The new route combines faster service with larger cargo capacity, enabling FedEx to deliver documents and packages from the US, Canada and select markets in Latin America to Seoul in South Korea within two to three business days.

FedEx now also offers the fastest delivery of priority freight to Seoul from the US, Canada and select markets in Latin America.

FedEx has strategically placed the 777F into service to South Korea in order to meet growing demand across global markets and offer practical solutions for increased shipping needs.

In 2010, US exports to South Korea reached US$38.8 billion, a significant 35% year-on-year increase.

"Korea is the seventh-largest trading partner of the US in terms of two-way trade, which is expected to increase after final approval of the US-Korea Free Trade Agreement," said Michael Ducker, executive vice president & chief operating officer of FedEx Express.

With approval of the pending US-Korea FTA (KORUS), the demand for goods and services is expected to increase between the US and South Korea. According to the US International Trade Commission, US merchandise exports to Korea would likely increase by nearly $11 billion a year.

FedEx Express is the first US-based global all-cargo airline to add the 777F to its fleet. As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability, FedEx has been expanding its fleet of 777F aircraft because of its fuel efficiency and lower carbon emissions.
