Gas and oil shipping company trials more sustainable fuel solutions

Caspian Marine Services (CMS), which operates a fleet of offshore marine support vessels serving the offshore oil and gas exploration and production industry, has entered trials with British fueltech company SulNOx Group to reduce the impact of its operations on the environment.

CMS, based in Azerbaijan, has a fleet of over 25 offshore marine vessels at its disposal.

Carl Rolaston, Chairman of the CMS Supervisory Board, and Farid Gurbanov, Chief Executive of CMS, agreed that this is a step in the right direction for the company in terms of sustainability, saying: “By using SulNOx we are leading the way in Azerbaijan and demonstrating to our clients that we are looking for green solutions both on a local and national level as part of Azerbaijan’s commitment to the mitigation of climate change and implementation of adaptation activities stated at COP27.”

SulNOx focuses heavily on ‘providing responsible solutions towards decarbonisation of liquid hydrocarbon fuels’ to save costs for companies relying on transportation while also reducing the ‘environmentally-damaging emissions’ they produce.
