Gefco is positioning itself for Opel in the Port of Vienna
Opel counts on Gefco Austria’s logistics expertise with immediate effect. Around 10,000 new vehicles per year will be distributed via the Port of Vienna, a company of Wien Holding, to vehicle dealers all over Austria. Therefore Gefco increases its storage areas at the Danube bank in Freudenau by adding more than 6,000 m², and will set up a new business location there.
Every week the international network of Gefco will deliver up to 220 Opel vehicles to the Port of Vienna. Most of them come from the Opel plant in Spain (Zaragoza), will be shipped on the seaway to Livorno, Italy and transported to Vienna on the railway. Some of the vehicles will arrive on trucks from the Opel plants in Germany and Poland.

The newly created 6,000 m² warehouse space in the Freudenau port provides space for 300 to 400 additional cars; some of them will be redistributed directly after delivery to Austrian car dealers, others are stored there until they are ordered by Opel trading partners. Gefco and the Port of Vienna are togethere in charge of the entire logistics chain: from the control on the train or truck and unloading and careful storage of cars, to redistribution throughout Austria.
