GLS: Poland is tenth country within the FlexDeliveryService network

FlexDeliveryService of the GLS parcel service enables also private persons in Austria to take over merchandises at a point of delivery of their choice

GLS, the European-wide operating parcel service, is gradually expanding its FlexDeliveryService introduced in 2012. GLS Poland has now introduced flexible delivery as country N° 10. Receipients will be informed about the upcoming parcel delivery and GLS will arrange the delivery according to their demands.

Since September 2012 recipients of GLS parcels in Germany can decide upon where and when they want to take over a standard parcel. In 2013 GLS introduced the FlexDeliveryService in the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia and Slovakia. The Czech branch followed in February 2014; now it’s the turn of GLS Poland. Introduction in France as N° 11 is in the pipeline.

“We have been adjusting to the growing demands of the strongly rising online commerce to our customers and us“, says Rico Back, CEO of the GLS group. The FlexDeliveryService sets the course for private parcel recipients will be able to receive their merchandises ordered online according to their demands.

To use this service, senders have only to transfer the e-mail address of the recipient – with his/her consent – to GLS and activate the service. GLS will inform the recipient via e-mail once the shipping is started, in some countries also via text message, about the upcoming delivery. Via a link in the message the recipient is able to use further features, such as select another day of delivery, redirect the parcel to another address or have it delivered to a GLS ParcelShop in some countries.
