Graz Airport registers decline in airfreight
In 2008 the Graz Airport registered a record in passenger figures but declines in airfreight business. In the airfreight segment 10,200 tons of cargo were handled, which is a 10.2%-decline compared to the record value of the year 2007. According to the Management of the Graz Airport the decline in freight has two reasons: less order volumes of some large-scale customers and the reduced average weight of the dispatched consignments. Nonetheless Gerhard Widmann, CEO of the Airport, is confident. His outlook: “The airfreight forwarding companies’ undaunted interest in Graz Airport lets expect a growth in freight volumes as soon as economy turns up again.” Quelle: Österreichische Verkehrszeitung |
