Knauf Gips enhances utilisation of MOM service by Transporeon

6,000 vehicles annually: Knauf Gips in Germany to coordinate transportations of loose and palletised goods via Transporeon app

Knauf Gips in Germany enhances its logistics service: From February 2015 the company will use the Mobile Order Management (MOM) von Transporeon also for palletised goods. This enables the employees of the Knauf freight management to gapless trace transportations until unloading, see the trucks’ current positions at any time and handle letters of delivery electronically.

Since the beginning of 2013 Knauf Gips uses the system already for transporting bulk goods. Knauf had placed itself as a launch customer for the application and thus was the first company to use the innovative solution of Transporeon in practice.

Knauf Gips is constantly working to further improve its logistics processes. Also working closely with Transporeon arose from this strategic goal. The Ulm-based company operates an internet-based platform on which shippers can network with their transport providers since 2000. The main modules are the award of the contract – either automatically or as a tender – as well as time window management for goods delivery and pickup.

This pioneering system supports the supply chain of Knauf Gips over long distances. „With the automated freight allocation and the time window management, we can sometimes make the ASN to within a very short time / just hours before delivery – what makes our customers always surprised and delighted,“ says Kurt Münk, Head freight management at Knauf Gips. „And we keep this delivery date as accurately as possible. Even 15 minutes are considered as a delay.“ Since the beginning of 2013, the company uses Transporeon’s new Mobile Order Management (MOM).

Currently Knauf gypsum rolls out the Mobile Order Management to other trucking companies in the field of bulk goods. The next step will be the integration of palletised goods in February 2015. On the long term, all 6,000 vehicles of Knauf’s forwarding partners in Germany will be equipped with MOM.
