Leaked government Brexit analysis shows UK will be worse off

A leaked UK government Brexit analysis has shown that the UK will be worse off in every scenario after the UK leaves the European Union, according to Buzzfeed.

This comes as the European Union published its guidelines for the next phase of Brexit negotiations. (link to document)

According to Buzzfeed, the assessment found that under comprehensive free trade agreement with the EU, UK growth would be 5 per cent lower over the next 15 years compared to current forecasts.

If the government chose a “no deal” scenario, growth would be reduced by 8 per cent over that period. And the softest Brexit scenario (continued single-market access via membership of the European Economic Area) would see growth reduced by 2 per cent.
