Lidl to build 624,000 sq ft Eurocentral DC

Lidl is to build a 624,000 sq ft regional distribution centre at the Eurocentral logistics park located east of Glasgow in Scotland. The new facility, will replace the retailer’s current Livingston warehouse.

Lidl to build 624,000 sq ft Eurocentral DCThe facility will be designed to meet the demands of a BREEAM target of ‘very good’, which means it will have a high level of energy and water efficiency, and a lower impact on the environment. The development is subject to planning permission.

“We are delighted to have exchanged contracts for our new RDC at Eurocentral, which marks another milestone in our ambitious expansion programme,” said managing director for Lidl Scotland, Ross Millar.

“We’ve seen incredible demand for Lidl stores across the country and look forward to servicing our existing 91 stores and future new stores from our new distribution hub, allowing us to continue offering our customers the best quality products at the lowest possible prices.

“We are firmly committed to helping boost the local economy by creating new jobs through the construction of the new RDC. The team are very much looking forward to now preparing and submitting the planning application. If approved we would hope to commence building in 2017.”

Lidl will also be opening regional distribution centres in Bristol, Exeter, Wednesbury and Southampton
