Logwin focuses on sub-Saharan Africa

Logwin has strengthened its presence on the African continent, opening its second location in Kenya in the city of Mombasa and expanding the warehousing capacity in its locations in Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa.

Logwin established its own country organisation in Kenya in spring 2010 with its first location in Nairobi, followed by a second in Mombasa in October.

Patrick Federle, managing director for the Africa region Africa at Logwin’s Air + Ocean business segment, points out that Mombasa is the second largest city in Kenya and the most important port in East Africa, which is also used by neighbouring countries such as Tanzania and Uganda for their import and export trade.

With the opening of Logwin’s second warehouse in Johannesburg, which offers space for 3,400 pallets over approximately 3,500 m², the company now manages a total of 6,500 m² of storage and logistics space in the city. The new warehouse is used as a distribution centre for valuable and sensitive goods.

Logwin‘ has also commissioned a newly built warehouse in Cape Town, located next to the airport, where Logwin has around 1,000 m² of storage space and 400 m² of offices at its disposal.

Logwin has operated in South Africa for more than thirty years, and has locations in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, East London and Port Elizabeth.

Federle says that the expansion of capacity is in response to the increasing demand for dependable storage and logistics solutions. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Sub-Saharan countries in Africa rank second behind Asia on the list of growth regions.
