Lübeck replaces Hamburg in the Containerships schedule

Starting on 9 January 2014, Containerships will offer an improved connection between German, Finnish and Russian markets

Containerships Ltd. Oy (Helsinki) will add the port of Lübeck to its existing sailing schedule with weekly east & westbound connections between the port St. Petersburg (RU) and Helsinki (FI). The first call at Lübeck will take place on Thursday 9 January 2014 sailing to St. Petersburg with ETA on Sunday 12 January and to Helsinki with ETA on Monday 13 January 2014.

“Lübeck, on the Baltic Sea coast of Germany, will replace Hamburg in the schedules, offering competitive advantages and improved service. Last call at Hamburg is planned on 18 December 2013,“ the company announces. As from January the cargo presently booked via Hamburg on Door terms will be re-routed via Lübeck.

Containerships provides customers container shipping services between Russia and the Baltic, Europe, UK, Ireland  and the North Sea, as well as between North Africa and the Mediterranean. Therefore it offers a choice of standard and special container sorts and complete coverage using sea, road, rail and river container transportation. The Container Shipping services in Russia include customs clearance of import and export cargo, including re-import procedures for arrival /departure by sea or by truck.

Containerships was established in 1966 by Sea Containers of UK and Finnish entrepreneur Veli Nordström. In 1967, the company’s first container vessel sailed from Finland to the UK. Between 1985 and 1990 it developed into a leading shortsea carrier emphasising the use of pallet-wide containers. By 1994, it established offices in St. Petersburg and Moscow. In 2007 Containerships acquired the Lithuania-based company Kursiu Linija and Lithuania, Latvia and Poland were added to the service network.
