LUG handles freight for Delta Cargo in Munich

Munich airport: Delta Cargo selects LUG aircargo handling as its new partner to handle air cargo and road feeder services

LUG aircargo handling is now also active on behalf of Delta Cargo, the freight division of the U.S. airline Delta Air Lines at the „Franz Josef Strauss“ airport in Munich. The cargo handling company is responsible for additional cargo of daily flights to and from Munich and the air cargo trucking of the new customer. Delta Cargo is a member of the SkyTeam Cargo Alliance. The alliance also includes LUG’s customers China Southern Cargo, Czech Airlines Cargo and Korean Air Cargo.

“Our office in Munich has developed very dynamically since its opening in July 2008. Well-known airlines such as Air Canada, ANA, SAA and US Airways are on our reference list. In 2013 we were able to win Rossiya Russian Airlines and Czech Airlines as new customers and now Delta Cargo,“ explains Patrik Tschirch, managing director and COO, LUG aircargo handling GmbH.

„Delta Cargo brings us one step closer to our goal of a geographically balanced customer portfolio. Delta calls Boeing Munich with 767-400ER aircraft. We expect around 5,000 tonnes of additional cargo volume per year due to this contract,“ adds Nina Hampel, manager sales and customer service, LUG aircargo handling GmbH.

Delta Air Lines operates daily nonstop flights between Germany and the U.S., with connections from Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart and Dusseldorf to Atlanta, Detroit and New York-JFK. In the freight segment, the company offers general cargo transports and express services as well as special products for dangerous goods, perishables and valuables.
