Maersk opens new logistics park in Pakistan

Global distributor Maersk has opened a new 560,000ft2 logistics park in Pakistan. It has opened at Port Qasim, the oldest and one of the busiest ports in the country.

The facility, which features six purpose-built sheds, takes Maersk’s footprint in Pakistan to over 1.3 million ft2, with properties in seven Pakistani cities.

Maersk claims that warehouses played a significant role in the resiliency of the industry during the pandemic and plan to built on that by opening new facilities like this one.

In addition to warehouse space, the new Maersk Integrated Logistics Park has a consolidation and fulfilment centre as well as cold storage. It will be used to cater to supply chains in a range of sectors including the retail, automotive, and technology industries.

Hasan Faraz, Managing Director of Maersk Pakistan, said: “With our state-of-the-art Integrated Logistics Park, we want to ensure that we play an important role in connecting and simplifying the supply chains for importers, exporters and traders of Pakistan.”

He described it as “a critical building block in the logistics infrastructure” of the country.
