New ocean services from APL, Matson and Shipco

APL starts new direct US West Coast service at ICTSI’s Japanese terminal; Matson expands China – Long Beach service; Shipco Transport launches new Taiwan – Atlanta LCL service.

International Container Terminal Services‘ Japanese subsidiary, Naha International Container Terminal Inc (NICTI) has welcomed APL’s new direct US West Coast service at the Port of Naha in Okinawa.

The PS5 service is an all-US flag service, which deploys five 5,000 TEU vessels calling at the ports of San Pedro and Oakland in California, Duth Harbor in Alaska, Pusan in South Korea, and Yokohama and Naha in Japan.

Matson Navigation Company is expanding its China – Long Beach Express (CLX) service with the addition of a second string of vessels, which will provide service from the ports of Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Shanghai to Long Beach. Operations will begin in mid-August and will be fully deployed by early-October.

With the new service, Matson will offer twice weekly departures from Shanghai with a ten-day transit time – the fastest in the transpacific trade.

Matson currently operates a weekly service from Xiamen, Ningbo and Shanghai to Long Beach.

Shipco Transport has launched a new direct intact LCL import service between Kaohsiung and Keelung in Taiwan to Atlanta in the US.

The weekly service offers a transit time of twenty days, and more than eighteen southeast US IPI points via Atlanta.

The company offers additional direct weekly services from Taiwan to Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Seattle and San Francisco.
