New silo for agricultural goods in the seaport of Brake

EUR 22 million total investment: Inauguration of J. Müller AG’s silo for grain and fodder with a capacity for 47,000 tonnes in Brake

On March 24, the opening was celebrated of a new silo for grain and fodder with a capacity for 47,000 tonnes in the seaport of Brake. The construction of the 90 metres high building Silo 6 was implemented with an investment of about EUR 22.5 million by the J. Müller Aktiengesellschaft. Thus the facility is the biggest individual investment in the company’s history, consolidating also the role of Brake as a leading location for agricultural logistics in Europe.

The new silo was necessary to meet the increasing requirements of the market for faster transhipment and separated storage of agricultural goods. “Since we started operating the silo by the end of last year we were able to clearly optimise unloading and storage processes – which is also a benefit for our customers“, said Thomas Bielefeld, managing director of the J. Müller Agri Terminal GmbH & Co. KG. The customers now may benefit from 38 more silo units, 13 of them self service modules for grain and fodder storage with a capacity for 47,000 tonnes. Total capacity at the J. Müller Agri Terminal is now 500,000 tonnes.
