Planning consent granted for £30 million Wolverhampton facility

Task Consumer Products, a manufacturer of tissue products, has received planning approval for the addition of buildings totalling c. 210,000ft² at its headquarters in the West Midlands.

Commercial property developer Stoford will develop the new £30 million facility on an 18-acre site at Citygate Park in Wolverhampton.

Demolition of a vacant unit at the site has already begun, making way for an 83,500ft² extension to Task Consumer Products’ existing premises at Citygate Park, as well as the construction of a new c.  125,000ft² development on the same site. Both units, Stoford says, will target BREEAM ‘Excellent’.

Nikul Patel, director at Task Consumer Products, said: “This significant milestone marks a pivotal moment in our company’s growth and expansion plans. The new site will provide us with the vital space needed to accommodate our increasing production demands and allow us to streamline our operations efficiently.

“With this development, we aim to enhance our capacity to meet the evolving needs of our customers and continue delivering high-quality products and services. We are grateful for the support from local authorities and stakeholders throughout the planning process, and we look forward to seeing our vision come to life as we embark on this exciting new chapter.”

Joint managing director of Stoford, Dan Gallagher added: “We are very pleased to have secured planning consent from the City of Wolverhampton Council for the redevelopment of Task’s headquarters. The firm has committed to making a significant financial investment in the site, which will secure its future in Wolverhampton and create new manufacturing and distribution jobs in the city.”

Gallagher confirmed that construction of the new units is due to start in February 2024.
